I was working as a graphic designer intern from January to March 2020. Optimity is a health-management app where users can record their daily healthy life and Optimity offers the data to clients. When I became a part of the company, they were under the rebranding process, and luckily I could unfold my branding expertise. I developed different kinds of logos and design systems where users can glance at the philosophy and personality of the brand. Collaborating with the marketing team, I also designed sales sheets, presentation slides, animated gifs, and welcome videos for B2B clients, which means I can work with a various range of design tools such as After Effects for motion design and Sketch for UI design. Below are the assets I have designed and worked for Optimity.

Roles: Brand Designer / Graphic Designer / Multimedia Designer

Branding (Logo)

Optimity has tried to renew its external image more suited to the company's personality. To do that, I designed and explore different kinds of logos and design systems. For the logos, I tried to embody the five pillars of Optimity inside the logos and used colours from the existing design guideline. As our health not only depends on specific nutrients, I wanted the logo to look like a whole connected organism.

Marketing Materials

I also helped designed marketing materials from welcome videos to gif files incorporated in email marketing. Working with the marketing team allowed me to understand more about the physiology of the business and learn what design is appealing for users and clients.

UI Design

As Optimity expands their business globally, I participated in revising some of app screens. I already know how to use UI tools such as Adobe XD or Sketch but it was good opportunity to utilize one of my expertise.

Lessons

I was very lucky to work at Optimity as a design intern. Optimity is a start-up company so I could see how everyone plays a big role closely. Moreover, I was happy to use my skills and knowledge I’ve achieved from school or myself. In school years, I could refine my design skills but I haven’t got the hang of what is on-point design in real life. However, at Optimity, I could work closely with a product designer and marketing specialist so that I learned how to see the design in the marketing and developer prospectives.
