For Every Nut Package Design
I always wanted to create my own product design which I’m passionate about. I’m a nut-lover since nuts are such good sources of nutrients for men and women of all ages and easy to bring anywhere. So I decided to create a mixed nuts product with a fun and quirky concept. The word ‘Nut’ doesn’t only mean a fruit with a hard shell but also means a person who is enthusiastic about something. And I made the name for the product “For Every Nut”, which means snacks for every enthusiastic person.

Mood Board
I found some interesting illustrations of people’s face and I thought it’s a great reference for the mixed-nuts product to depict different personalities of nuts. Also, to embody the quirky concept of the product, it was a great choice to make illustrations rather than using stock photos. I also came across some fun facts about nut-lovers and I thought it would be great to put those quotes on the package so that it would make the product more fun and personal.
Dieline
I sketched the nuts and dieline for the 3D package design. I wanted to make a paper pillow box which is light enough to bring. So I created the pattern with the illustrations first and put it on the actual dieline. It was challenging to make the pattern since the little difference in the space between the nuts made huge different feelings.
Final Design
For the final design, I put the name of the product in the front and the nutrition facts on the back. I put the actual barcode and ingredients information on the sides. Also, I put the little quotes on the top so that people can find the text when people open the package. After finishing the design, I printed out on the thick-coated paper to check if it’s usable and tangible.
Lessons
I fully enjoyed the whole process of creating a 3D package design since it’s very fun to create something from scratch to the actual product. I also enjoyed making design fit with the product concept using illustrations and script fonts. When I sketched the dieline, it was challenging to make it feasible and foldable. However, it was meaningful manual works since I learned the package design by doing, not by explanations.
